Connecticut’s high school football season is in full swing, with games kicking off in mid-September and regular-season action heating up this past weekend. Leading the charge is the powerhouse Brunswick School, followed closely by Choate Rosemary Hall, and strong contenders like Greenwich and Windsor, which currently holds a flawless 6-0 record.

As we move into Week 8 of the 2024 season, here’s an updated look at Connecticut’s standout high school football teams:

High School Football Rankings: Connecticut’s Top 10

  1. Brunswick School (6-1)
    Brunswick’s loaded roster, led by Clemson-bound quarterback Blake Hebert, is firing on all cylinders. Hebert is protected by Notre Dame commit Matty Augustine and supported by Syracuse-bound receiver Jaylen Pray. The Bruins’ only loss was a narrow 34-26 game against Phillips Exeter Academy.
  2. Choate Rosemary Hall School (6-0)
    Choate is another private school packed with talent, including 4-star offensive lineman Will Black, who’s headed to Notre Dame. The Wild Boars remain undefeated after a dominant 34-7 victory over Loomis Chaffee. An upcoming showdown with Avon Old Farms on Nov. 2 promises to be a game to watch.
  3. Avon Old Farms (4-2)
    The Beavers opened the season with a tough loss but quickly rebounded. Despite a setback against Brunswick, Avon’s roster boasts top talent, including Penn State commit Owen Aliciene and Maryland-bound Dante Recker. Their upcoming matchup with Choate will be pivotal.
  4. Windsor (6-0)
    Windsor breaks into the rankings after a strong start, including a decisive 40-14 win over Maloney and a 58-0 sweep of Enfield. Windsor’s unbeaten streak highlights a program on the rise.
  5. New Canaan (5-1)
    After having their 14-game winning streak ended by Masuk, New Canaan bounced back with a 32-0 win over Wilton. Despite the setback, the Rams remain a formidable contender.
  6. Masuk (5-1)
    Since an early loss to Bunnell, the Panthers have refocused and looked strong, including a recent 42-0 win over Bethel. Masuk will face off against Pomperaug next week.
  7. St. Joseph (5-1)
    The Cadets started with a tough game against North Haven but quickly found their stride. After a 14-0 loss to Darien, they rebounded with a 24-0 shutout of Ridgefield.
  8. Hand (6-0)
    The Tigers cruised past Fairfield Prep 34-3 and recently handed Shelton a 52-29 defeat. After a bye week, Hand returned with a solid 35-22 win over Cheshire.
  9. Brookfield (6-0)
    Making its first appearance in the rankings, Brookfield continues its undefeated run, with a recent 48-7 win over Pomperaug following an upset victory over Bunnell.
  10. Greenwich (5-1)
    Led by dual-threat quarterback Michael D’Angelo, Greenwich boasts a balanced offense that has racked up over 800 all-purpose yards. They recently knocked off Rhode Island’s top team, Bishop Hendricksen, and defeated Trumbull, 21-7.
