High School Football Playoff Brackets Announced; Six Western Slope Teams Set to Compete

The Colorado High School Athletic Association (CHSAA) has revealed this year’s football playoff brackets, featuring strong representation from Western Slope teams.

In the 4A bracket:

  • Grand Junction will host Longmont after a stellar season in which the Tigers went 9-1 overall and a perfect 5-0 in league play, driven by standout performances from senior quarterback and linebacker Will Applegate.
  • Central is set to face Rampart Rams in Colorado Springs after a 4-6 season. The 20th-seeded Warriors will challenge the 13th-seeded Rams, with the winner advancing to play Palmer Ridge, who secured a first-round bye.
  • Montrose will enjoy a first-round bye after completing an undefeated season. Montrose consistently scored over 30 points per game, except in their recent close 27-24 win over Pueblo West.

In the 2A bracket:

  • The defending state champions, the Delta Panthers, will take on Wellington in a matchup of near-equals: both teams enter the playoffs with a 7-2 record and similar league and non-league results.

In the 1A bracket:

  • North Fork will aim to secure their first playoff victory since 2021 but will face a challenging matchup against the undefeated Wray Eagles, who have scored at least 28 points in every game this season.

And in the 8-man bracket:

  • Plateau Valley, with just two losses this season, will compete against the 8-1 Mancos Blue Jays.

The first round of playoff action kicks off next Saturday!
